Thoughtless Jerk of the Day
The twins and I rode BART on Sunday. The trains were packed. So many people were standing in the aisle, you couldn’t see from one end of the subway car to the other. I watched a pregnant woman (who mentioned to me that she was 37 weeks), an elderly couple, and a mother carrying her 3-month old infant in her arms all have to stand and try not to fall as the train lurched along while “Miss Rudeness” took up a perfectly good seat with her bags.
Well, Miss Rudeness, that “look down at your iPod and pretend not to notice that the train is standing room only” trick isn’t fooling anyone and doesn’t excuse your complete lack of common courtesy and human decency. Your bags didn’t pay for a seat and you didn’t pay extra for two seats. Try being more considerate in the future.
Selfish people are like roller coasters. Sometimes they make you want to throw up. Which, now that I think about it, is probably what I should have done all over her bags.

  3. thekidhasarrived said: Yeah, that doesn’t fly in NYC. Someone would’ve told her where to stick those bags in a hot minute. You Bay Area folks are way too nice.
  4. designingdaddy said: Wow, everyone else is so polite! Out here, if someone does that, people will flat out say “EXCUSE me, please move your bags so I can sit.”
  5. mywildloves said: Thats the norm here in NY. I have learned from years of putting up with this to say in a loud clear voice, “Excuse me but Id like to sit here please” and 70% of the time they move the stuff without argument. 30% of the time we fight. Fuck it though.

  7. imtellingben said: Man, that pisses me off. I couldn’t act like that if I wanted to.
